CFS Kinship Team Lead

About the Role

Reporting to the CFS Director of Atikameg Child & Family Services.
Summary
The Kinship/Foster Care & Community Connections Team Lead will be responsible for the delivery of the Kinship and Foster Care Program for Whitefish Lake First Nation in the community of Atikameg. The delivery of service will have a focus on accepted community practises and beliefs and in accordance with accepted practises, standards and legislative requirements. The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

The position will require supervision and support to kinship care provider and foster care providers and to enhance their abilities to care for children and youth in care. Duties will also include recruitment, selection,training, support to kinship and foster care providers to enhance their abilities to care for children and youth in care.

The Kinship/ Foster Care & Community Connections Worker will also be responsible to implement services to assist the community in accessing resources and facilitating training/workshops and will be skilled in maintaining positive working relationships with community and off –reserve partnerships.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act; Signs of Safety as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills and organizational skills. Additionally, they will be required to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies as outlined in the Job Profile.

Qualifications
Social Work Diploma and one-year related experience in case management, investigation or assessment is required. Experience in a kinship care/foster-care intervention services role is required, as well as, a working knowledge of Signs of Safety. Experience in working with or knowledge of Indigenous communities and culture is an asset.

The selected candidate for this position will be asked to undergo an academic check, intervention record check and provide a satisfactory security screening as a condition for hire.
